Good god damn, how the media loves to blow bullshit out of proportion!  Apparently, the value of computer software piracy in Canada totalled more than 1.1 billion dollars last year with 40% of computer users admitting they acquired software illegally.  Thus is the opening sentence in that report.  So let's analyze it for a brief moment, shall we? Let's use Windows 7 Pro as our AVERAGE price related to the software in question being pirated.  That's roughly 199$ for a single license/software.  Let's do the math and divide $1.1 billion by $199 = (1'100'000'000 / 199 = 5527638.190954774).  Let's format that number, too.  That's 5'527'638 copies of Windows 7 Professional sold in one year.  Make sense?  FUCK NO!  And this is based on FORTY PERCENT of computer users that ADMITTED acquiring software illegally!  Where do they get these numbers?   So I was reading this article after logging out of hotmail, and I couldn't help but chuckle a bit.  Apparently, canadians are piling on debts (ref : household debt at an all-time high of 150% of income [insert chuckle here]), buying shit beyond theirs means and, in so many words in the article, it's their own fuckin' fault!  To a minor degree, I agree.  To the rest, I fucking disagree, and here's why : Every price imaginable has been increasing and so have the taxes, with the SLIGHT exception of the GST lowering by a few percentages; however this is made up in other types of taxes to cover it.From fucking peanut butter to the god-cursed, black-gold oil and gas skyrocketing, yet wages are either reduced or simply not kept up with inflation rates, to thousands of jobs cut (ref : thanks to the new budget, 5500 jobs are cut at the government) what the fuck are we to do in the end?
